CORK PRODUCTS
No waste, no poison, no tree has to die – that excites us!
Cork grows slowly but sustainably. In Portugal, the bark of cork oak trees is carefully removed by hand only every nine to twelve years. The tree remains intact and continues to grow new bark for generations. The end result is a 100% natural, sustainable raw material. That's precisely why we at Wildfang chose cork. In addition to this wonderfully sustainable process, natural cork has such a beautiful, warm honey - yellow colour. We love this material! You'll find trays and coasters here, round or square, with or without motifs.
Natural, beautiful and long-lasting.

Are cork coasters water and heat resistant?
Where does cork actually come from?
Yes, cork is heat-resistant and naturally water-resistant . Because cork doesn't absorb moisture or dirt, you can easily wipe away stains or drips with a damp cloth. Cork is perfect for hot pots or cold glasses with condensation.
Cork comes from the bark of the cork oak, which grows primarily in Portugal . Around half of the world's cork is produced there. The climate ensures particularly high-quality bark, making Portuguese cork elastic, fine, and durable. Production here is strictly regulated, sustainable, and protects the traditional cork oak forests. Spain, Italy, North Africa, and China also produce cork, but the quality of this cork cannot be compared to Portuguese cork.
Is cork sustainable and environmentally friendly?
Yes, absolutely!
Cork is a 100% sustainable, natural, and organic material. The bark of the cork oak is harvested by hand without felling or damaging the tree. The first harvest may only take place when the tree is around 25 years old, after which the bark is harvested every nine to twelve years. A cork oak can live for 150 to 200 years and continually produces new bark during this time. After harvesting, the bark is dried in the open air for several months before being boiled, pressed, and sorted according to quality. Cork products are durable , easy to care for, and completely biodegradable . This makes cork a particularly environmentally friendly natural material .
How do I clean cork coasters?
Simply wipe with a damp cloth and pat dry immediately if soiled. Please do not use harsh cleaning agents and do not soak the coasters in water.
