NAPKINS

Enjoy in style, act sustainably, extend a warm welcome!

A festively set table, a picnic in the countryside, a cozy dinner with friends – it's often the small details that make the difference. Cloth napkins are part of that. They add a special touch to every occasion. Our linen, half-linen, and cotton napkins are washable, reusable, and will last for years. With cloth napkins, you make a conscious statement against disposable products, as they are significantly more sustainable and environmentally friendly than paper napkins. With our pretty motifs and patterns, they invite you to savor the moment and celebrate it again and again.

In short: small details with a big impact.

Which material is best for napkins?

What size should a cloth napkin be?

Linen is durable, sustainable, and very elegant. Linen becomes softer over time. The older it is, the better.

Half-linen is a blend of cotton and at least 40% linen. It combines the absorbency of cotton with the durability of linen, making it very popular in the hospitality industry.

Cotton is soft, highly absorbent and easy to care for – it is the all-rounder for everyday use.

Ultimately, the choice of material depends on your personal taste and how you want to design the table.

How do I properly care for cloth napkins?

Wash the napkins with mild detergent, but without bleach or fabric softener. Depending on the fabric, the temperature can range from 30 to 95°C – refer to the care label for instructions. Airdrying is best. Linen doesn't tolerate heat well, so don't tumble dry. Soak stains directly in cold water, using a stain remover or baking soda if necessary. Linen is easiest to iron when it's still slightly damp; cotton will flatten more quickly. Generally, you can care for them the same way you would → tea towels.

The classic napkin for a multi-course dinner usually measures 50x50 cm. For coffee and cake, many people prefer small, handy napkins measuring 30x30 cm. Those who want to combine both should choose 40x40 cm.

How to use cloth napkins?

The napkin is part of table culture – at home and in restaurants.

Where: When setting the table, place it on the plate. If food is already served there, place it to the left of the left row of cutlery on the table or on the bread plate.

How to use: Place the napkin on your lap before eating. It should be folded once, so the closed edge is toward your knees. If you stand up during the meal, place the napkin to the left of your plate. The top part of the napkin should be clean.

Just dab, don't wipe:

Dab gently, don't wipe - especially before reaching for the glass. Dab both sides of your mouth to avoid leaving unsightly marks on the glass.

What you should not do: Do not wipe your mouth or wipe the beads of sweat from your forehead with a napkin.

After eating, you can wash the cloth napkins and reuse them again and again - making them sustainable!

What is behind letter corners, hemstitches and damask?

Letter corner: This is a neatly folded and sewn corner where the fabric edges meet at a 45° angle. It is a high-quality and durable finish for table and home textiles.

Hemstitch: A hemstitch is a decorative edge. Individual threads are pulled from the fabric and the remaining threads are stitched over. This creates an elegant "hole pattern" on napkins and tablecloths.

Damask: Damask is a fabric with a woven pattern, usually made of cotton. The pattern is created using a satin weave (weaving technique). Damask is very durable and long-lasting.
