What are terry cloth kitchen towels?
What are they suitable for?

How durable and sustainable are terry cloth kitchen towels?

Terry cloth is usually made of 100% cotton and has a looped structure. This structure increases the surface area of the cloth, allowing terry cloth kitchen towels to absorb a particularly large amount of liquid. They are comfortable to use, feel soft, and are also very durable! Terry cloth kitchen towels are therefore perfect for drying hands or dishes.

How do you wash and care for terry cloth kitchen towels?

Terry cloth kitchen towels are robust and durable. Depending on how you use and care for them, they can last for several years. They can be easily washed at 60°C without quickly losing quality. The looped structure of the terry cloth makes the towels thick, durable, and tear-resistant. One small weakness: over time, the loops can fray.

They're also highly sustainable because they can be washed and reused many times. They replace disposable products for years and can often be reused as cleaning rags at the end of their life.

Tip: they last longer if you don't use fabric softener and just air dry them!

Wash the terry cloth kitchen towel before first use to allow the yarn to swell and the loops to settle. A 60°C wash is ideal for hygienic cleaning. Use a heavy-duty or color detergent and avoid fabric softener, which makes the towel less absorbent → see Tea Towels. Air dry the kitchen towels or tumble dry at a low temperature to maintain their quality. Make sure to wash kitchen towels regularly to prevent germs from growing.
